Meet Laura, the Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇ piglet, and his best friend Marina, the ᴏʀᴘʜᴀɴᴇᴅ kitten with special needs. The duo met each other for the first time at the Santuario Igualdad Interespecie, an interspecies equality sanctuary for farm animals in Santiago, Chile. Marina was ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ on the street by her mother because of being sɪᴄᴋ and having ᴘᴜs-ꜰɪʟʟᴇᴅ eyes. Thankfully, a kind person picked her up and took her to the Chilean sanctuary, sᴀᴠɪɴɢ her life.
While you might say they so different, these ᴀᴅᴏʀᴀʙʟᴇ creatures do have one thing in common. They were both ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ and thanks to the kindness of the Santuario Igualdad Interespecie, they got their second chance to life. Maybe, this ʜᴀʀᴅ, ᴅɪꜰꜰɪᴄᴜʟᴛ life they have been through made them to form such a strong bond, despite their differences.
This sanctuary in Santiago, Chile is actually the place where Laura and Marina first met. While Laura was Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ by activists from the ᴍᴇᴀᴛ industry, Marina was ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ by her careless owners. Fortunately, a kind man found her and brought her to the center. After such ʜᴀʀᴅ times, the fate brought these ᴀᴅᴏʀᴀʙʟᴇ creatures together and now they are inseparable. And when I say inseparable, I meant even when they’re sleeping. Marina and Laura found the comfort they needed, in each other and the strength to start a new life. They love to play, cuddle and hug each other, all day long. They found comfort in each other, and share the most unlikely and beautiful of friendships. They play, cuddle, nap together and give each other a lot of hugs and ᴋɪssᴇs. Even when they’re not cuddling, they stay close together, like best forever friends should. Whenever Laura sleeps in, Marina acts as her bestie alarm clock. And Laura always returns the favor. This darling duo’s friendship shows us that even though two individuals may not look alike and may come from completely different backgrounds, they can form a wonderful friendship.
“Since her arrival, Laura has been treated with love and care that a baby deserves, and has formed a deep friendship with Marina the kitten, showing by example, that when it comes to relations of friendship and respect, no matter the species to which one belongs,” a volunteer at the sanctuary says.
